I critique "Hard Core," an article by Natasha Vargas-Cooper in the Atlantic. It’s not great on scientific logic about innate gender qualities, but the emotional place it’s coming from feels complicated, raw and very real to me in a way that I believe is important.
The Kim Cattrall / Samantha Split in All of Us
Kim Cattrall (of Samantha fame in Sex and the City), wrote a book to specifically separate herself and her sex life from her character. It highlights to me the problematic depiction of a sexual woman that ‘has sex like a man’ - because in reality it’s a depiction of a woman that unabashedly has sex that is pleasurable for a man, but fakes her own pleasure…yet we are unwilling to see it that way.
