It’s constantly surprising how very little of the basic physical realties of the female orgasm (revealed through scientific and anatomical observation) have penetrated our cultural understanding. This discrepancy between what is known versus what is assumed and expected about the lady-gasm has caused and continues to cause, to say it frankly, a shit environment for female arousal and orgasm. It also adds to many of the worst and most harmful aspects of our sexual culture.

Our movie (Science, Sex, and the Ladies) and this blog specifically focus on this very basic knowledge gap about female orgasms, the assumptions that fill that gap, and what havoc that wreaks for all of us.

The basic elements of my ideas and activist work are not new. They stem from a long line of marginalized, ignored, and sometimes demonized bad-ass people over the past century saying similar things. However, as of yet, our culture simply seems uninterested in really hearing it.

Plenty of people are still out there saying these things in a variety of ways and from a variety of perspectives. I hope to highlight as many as I can. Even if we disagree on some points, I am inspired and excited by the breadth of great activism out there. I hope my point of view and the information I have gathered here can support and inspire other activists as well.
